Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (such as M&M’s®)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Beat shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes.

  • Add flour, baking soda, and salt; blend well. Stir in 1/2 of the chocolate candies.

  • Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Use remaining candies to decorate dough balls; press down slightly.
